Al Qaeda Operatives Arrested in Iraq
Note that it was the Iraqis who caught these Abu Musaab al-Zarqawi aides with the aid of the local population. Zarqawi's organization, previously known as
Tawhid and Jihad, is now
al Qaeda in Iraq. Zarqawi's terrorist group is behind many of the beheading murders in Iraq.
Yesterday another Zarqawi aid was arrested in Tikrit on suspicion of being involved in beheadings. Very good news indeed. Via the

All it takes is one capture and so much of the network is exposed. Much like what happened when Pakistani police arrested that computer whiz several months ago, which led to multiple arrests in the weeks that followed. We'll probably see more arrests/raids because of this.
Speaking of Al Qaeda, here's an interesting article about Hakeem Olajuwon's donations/establishment to a mosque that might have donated money to the group.

I don't understand something though. I see headlines all the time, "closing in on Zarqawi" with the capture of all these "top aides".
How come we can't get any of them to squeal about Zarqawi's hideout?

No worries, I just thought it was interesting.
As for Zarqawi, yeah, it obviously can take long before the head of a terrorist organization is caught - obviously group members will try to protect him over themselves. But I agree, it's noteworthy how often he's "just missed." We're probably bordering on half a dozen times in the last 6 months, given what we hear and what we don't hear.

I, Dr.Jack Shepard SAYS: I pray that God Blesses the Middle East with Peace & Mr. Sharon makes it to heaven or the whole world will go to Hell!
I also have 2 witnesses that Iain Hook was told a few weeks before his murder "We were going to send a message to Kofi Annan and you will know when we send it.
I love Israel; now we will see if Mr. Sharon really wishes peace, he controls his military 100%, while as everyone in the world knows that Abu Mazen can not.
With President Bush and Secretary of State Rice on aboard, you will see Mr. Sharon will have too be an real peace partner.
As General Sharon he only knows war; I pray that he remembers that he, Mr. Sharon will be judged by God on his Judgment day.
I know and hope that God will forgive him; but if I was God this would be his last chance. If he does not work as a real partner of President Bush, and Abu Mazen toward peace.
He will dwell in the fires of Hell Forever, if he acts and does what pleases God, and spends more time praying for peace then killing for peace; God will still BE forgive him.
At his age; his actions should be like all of us to please God. Hell and Heaven await all of us forever, this life time is only a test.
The hate he has in him is an action from the dEVIL in the past were part of God's plan, I pray for him to learn to love, and he has it in him to do what pleases God.
I pray for him because if he can not lead Israel to share God's world with the weak, and hungry, he will dwell in Hell if he does not stop playing games; God is all seeing and all knowing.
Like I said above, it is not for me to judge; even though I have access to facts that very few people at the high levels do, which obviously few do.
So when I say something it is the truth. I only what people to remember they can play games with everyone but not with God.
If I was Mr. Sharon as of yesterday I would fear God, if he is a real believer.
I hope SOMEONE WILL forwards this to him, I as a friend and Warner CAN ONLY SAY MR. SHARON -LAST CHANCE FOR HEAVEN>DO NOT FORGET ABOUT GOD.
With a change of heart; God is the most forgiving. General Sharon knows his record like I do.
I pray for him to change his ways; with the whole world watching if he REMEMBERS THAT HE really will have to please God.
He has much to ask forgiveness from God For. HE KNOWS! That is between him and God. You and I will see be his actions.
I thank God that President Bush was reelected and that he choose Secretary of State Rice and that they are moving so fast.
I have been praying for President Bush, to become the Abe Lincoln of modern times for 4 years now. I hero of history who stopped a WORLD CIVIL WAR! Watch my words come true.
I predict President George W. Bush, Mr. Sharon, Mr. Abu Mazen and Secretary of State Rice will be getting the Nobel Peace Award next year.
I pray that God Blesses the Middle East with Peace AND Mr. Sharon makes it to heaven or the whole world will go to Hell!

As others have said, there have been zillions of ceasefires, so this doesn't mean much. It's only interesting because Arafat is gone. MAYBE the new leadership means it, but the way I see it the new leadership has the burden of proving that they mean it.

Um, the new Palestinian president means it, wants it, but he unfortunately has two groups who will not listen to his orders: Hamas and Hezbollah. But I do hope that these groups follow along with the peace plan.

Actually, I think this ceasefire will succeed to some extent. Mainly because:
1) Other "ceasefires" that failed tended to be unilateral. This one has both sides on board, and very publicly so. While there are other factions to consider, Hamas seems to accept the legitimacy of Abbas' rule. Coupled with the fact that he was overwhelmingly voted in when Palestinians knew he was looking for peace with Israel spells more than a fleeting chance.
2) The fact that Hamas is adopting a wait-and-see approach as opposed to coming full-out and saying they won't abide by the terms of the ceasefire shows that there's some room for them to be a part of the peace deal. Despite the fact their tone regarding this is negative, some of the group's main commanders have been speaking more conciliatory in recent months. This also tells me that the group is willing to examine alternatives to violence.
3) It wouldn't be in Hamas' or Hezbollah's best interests to commit terrorist acts at this point. As mentioned before, the fact that Abbas was elected with a large majority by people who knew he was looking for peace, shows that those same people were looking for peace. Hamas, Hezbollah, or any other terrorist group would face a negative public backlash by Palestinians (the people they're allegedly fighting for) if they stood in the way of this.
Anyhow, I'm sure if peace comes it'll take more time than a photo-op. But, I find this latest round of negotiating pretty encouraging.

Iraqi Villagers Take on Terrorists
File under good news. When more of this starts happening, we'll know we have won. Via
Paul at Wizbang this
ABC (Aus) article:
The Iraqi police have investigated a case in the village of al-Mudhariya, which is just south of Baghdad. The villagers there say that before the election insurgents came and warned them that if they voted in last weekend's election, they would pay.
Now the people of this mixed village of Sunni and Shia Muslims, they ignored the threat and they did turn out to vote.
We understand that last night the insurgents came back to punish the people of al-Mudhariya, but instead of metering out that punishment the villagers fought back and they killed five of the insurgents and wounded eight. They then burnt the insurgents' car. So the people of that village have certainly had enough of the insurgents.

Ditto: About time. One or two more of these incidents and maybe the ball will start to steamroll. I can't wait for the day it is fashionable to kill terrorists. Drag them from their cars, burn their bodies and hang them from overpasses.
But do not make them wear panties on their heads or pile up naked. That would be too much. Such INHUMAN treatment would result in jail time for the freedom fighters. aaaaaaahhhh!

LMFAO!!!! oh no, the villagers better not make them do THAT! Better to just kill 'em.
Posted by: Laura at February 04, 2005 03:49 PM (ptOpl)
6
Don't use the word "fashionable" when discussing killing. Those that threaten the lives of others need to be stopped. Those that NO LONGER pose a threat or are in PRISON should not be killed. If you don't understand that then there is no hope for you.
The villagers did what they had to do. More would do the same if it wasn't for the fact that the terrorists do a great job of TERRORIZING them into sumbission. That is their goal. That is why they make the videos. Get it now? Its good to know that some have fought back.
Rooster, if someone forced you to get naked under gunpoint and pile up with other naked victims while they videotaped you and laughed, they would go to jail. Unless you are telling me you would not press charges. You make it sound like you would have a jolly old time and then pat the guilty party on the back for their fine work. Get real.

JIM: As before. You are one sick terrorist hugging shit. Who the hell are you to tell me what to say. Sissies like you cause more Americans to get killed. A piece of dog shit like you would call the cops in that situation. The greyrooster wouldn't. For one thing the greyrooster would tell them to fuck off and not do it. Then greyrooster would figure a way to get even. You would not. You would do as they did. For you are as cowardly as they. I'm a man you are a rat. Difference in how we think. Terrible torture huh!. Worst things happened to me in a frat hazing. Of course, you never went though one. No self respecting frat would have a chicken shit like you. Maybe a sorority for ugly women might take you.
I understand that those caught and put into prison might very well have killed an American soldier the day before. That's what they do. That's their purpose in life. They enjoy killing. We get captured, we die a horrible slow death. They get captured they get cuttled by assholes like you. Grow the fuck up. Take no prisoners. The prisoner might have killed your buddy last week. Or might be released to kill again as already happened numerous times.
You are totally devoid of common sense. You do not understand what makes men tick. For you truly are not one.
You need a testosterone shot. In fact you need lots of testosterone shots. Maybe, just maybe they will make you feel like man. Then you can begin to think like one. Now go back to your muslim boyfriend and shut the fuck up. PUNK!

Greyrooster, as far as I'm concerned it's fashionable to kill the little bastards right now and when they kill em, they need to smile as they watch em die.

I already told you the answer. I wouldn't do it. I would say fuck you. I have enought sense and they surely should that the American troops wouldn't do shit if you said fuck you.
Read the paragraph again it says a piece of dog shit like you would call the cops in that situation. THE GREYROOSTER WOULDN'T. What the fuck you mean I didn't answer. Quit playing with your rag head domestic pardners dick and pay attention.

It is impossible for people like JIM to understand the mind of a brave person. The thought process is different. Someone hits me I try and knock his head off. Jim calls the cops. He cannot understand value like courage, bravery, loyalty. He is a different species. Nature has made wolves and sheep. I am like the wolf. Sometimes I die fighting. That's the way it is. Jim is the sheep, he dies running.
Wolves fight wolves. Sheep do anything to avoid a fight. They run, they hide, they wag their tails in submission, they call the shepherd. Terrorists are wolves. They figure if god didn't want sheep sheared he wouldn't have made them sheep.
The Jims of the world will never understand manhood. It's beyond his comprehension. It's his nature to run and hide and kiss ass. Submission and groveling is how he protects himself. He disquises his fear by saying he cares about the wolf. He figures he won't get bitten that way.
Some of us are different. We don't care if we get bitten. The pack comes first. We are loyal to our pack. We wouldn't change even if we knew we were going to lose. I don't care if he understands me. AND I SURE AS HELL DON'T WISH TO ACT LIKE HIM. Take you free ride Jim. You're the one who needs to look in the mirror. Then go baa, baa. Those who you would snitch on are protecting the sheep.

12
So you are telling me that if someone at gunpoint told you to do those things that you tell them to "fuck off" and not to do. So you are assuming that the abusers in question would let you off that easily? That when you tell them to fuck off they simply reply "yes greyrooster sir!", put down their guns and run away? And then they allow you to get even??? If you are going to pretend like you are answering the damn quesiton at least try not to sound like such an idiot.
So again, if someone has you at gun point and forces you to do those things, would you press charges? If you refuse and they beat you...how much would you endure before you comply? If they fire their gun at your feet, how many shots before you dance? I am not talking about American troops. I am talking about any ASSAILANT. Doesn't matter if they are black, white, woman or man. Any person who wants to cause you physical harm. I am guessing that you would EVENTUALLY comply. You can pretend to be so proud that you would die before being forced to do those things but no one would believe you. Even you would find it hard to believe yourself. Stop acting so hard.
You would do those things and if given the opportunity to bring the bastards that did it to justice, you would take it. Now shut your mouth because you know you would. If you can understand that then you can understand what inhuman actions are. Then you can understand why those soldiers are on trial.
ANOTHER CASE CLOSED. I HAVE NO FURTHER QUESTIONS.
Posted by: Jim at February 04, 2005 08:35 PM (aL36c)

Oh, Apparently some of the Iraqi citizenry is now acting like the wolf and fighting. This means the end of the terrorists wolves. That is as long as the sheep don't get in the way.
Posted by: greyrooster at February 04, 2005 08:38 PM (JHIKU)
14
Again, The troops you say are so inhuman were in reality American troops. Yes, I would take the beating before submitting. We both know the beatings at Abu Garib were bullshit. I would not dance and no one at Abu Garib had their feet shot at. You are an exaggerating bullshit artist. Pure lies. Nothing more. If you are not talking about American troops who the hell are you talking about? American troops were in charge at Abu Garib when the so called inhuman acts happened. They didn't happen. You are a liar.
As I said before. It is impossible for a cowardly little snitch like you to judge people that are not cowards. The greyrooster doesn't dance. If I was to get shot in the foot, it would hurt. That's all. But dancing would hurt me more. YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT. Because you do not have the courage and internal pride to understand. That is why you are a sheep. I would rather feel pain than be a sheep. I've already felt all the pain most people could only think about. Wasn't that big of a deal. But Shame. Now that's a big deal.
If I were as cowardly as you. I think I would find the nearest bridge. What's the point of you living. You're to cowardly to experience manhood or any of the glory that goes with it.
Posted by: greyrooster at February 04, 2005 08:55 PM (JHIKU)
15
Now its my turn to call BULLSHIT. You would do whatever it takes to survive. That is human instinct. But lets pretend for a moment that you really are the most courageous person alive like you claim. Would it be safe to say that MOST people are not as BRAVE and HEROIC like you? Would it be safe to say that MOST people would break down after hours of beating or under threats to their life and thus, be forced to do those things? YES.
Stop pretending like these things didn't happen. The proof is in the pictures. You think the prisoners happily piled up on each other, had intercourse with each other, allowed themselves to be raped without PROTESTING? You think they willfully participated in those humilliating acts? No. SOMETHING "persuaded" them to do it. I am thinking it was either an M16 or some other tool.
You know what the most beautiful thing is though? I want you to pay close attention because you might not be able to understand it at first but you just PROVED MY POINT in your sob story at the end of your post. ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION? I speak to you like a little child because you act like one. HERE WE GO:
You see, this whole arguement started because you didn't think the prisoners in Abu Ghraib were tortured. You think what they went through is nothing compared to pain or death. YET, in your last post you said that SHAME IS WORSE THAN DEATH. Your exact words:
"I would rather feel pain than be a sheep. I've already felt all the pain most people could only think about. Wasn't that big of a deal. But Shame. Now that's a big deal."
I think for the Muslims in that prison, having to pile up naked, having intercourse with each other or even simply wear underwear on their heads is about as SHAMEFUL as it gets for them. In your eyes that is worse than death correct? So according to you, what the prisoners went through in that sick ordeal IS WORSE THAN DEATH. I would end it here but there is more...
You said you went through similar things during fraternity hazing. So you allowed yourself to be SHAMED because you wanted to join a fucking frat? How sad are you now? What happened to the proud wolf? HAHAHAHAHAHA I hope you are proud of yourself. You contradict yourself so much that given time, you discount everything you say within 2 or 3 posts. You make it too easy man.
Posted by: Jim at February 04, 2005 11:41 PM (aL36c)
16
Once again you are a liar. There was no intercourse. Just a wish on your part. They were merely stacked on top of one another. Shit everyone knows that. There was no pain involved. There was no hours of beatings. Proof is in the pictures? More of your bullshit. Where is the blood. Where are the bruises. Where is the swelling. Nerf balls don't leave bruises. Look at the pictures again imbecile. Getting slapped around a bit is not torture. LIAR, LIAR, COWARDLY LIAR. Why continue to lie and distort the facts. Be a man and tell the truth. But you ain't so you can't.
Secondly, what we did during Frat hazings were not shameful. We knew what they were. We laughed at ourselves and our brothers for thinking up such shit. Pure genius. Again, you cannot understand this feeling. You are a social outcast mad at the real people. The ones that fit in. Your actions show you have the same problem as the terrorist. Jealousy, You are jealous of those who are popular, those accepted by society, the people at the end of the bar doing the laughing and having fun. You are not one of them. It shows. Therefore, you take the side of the enemy and support them against those who haven't accepted you. It's your fault. If you weren't such a creep you might be accepted.
SHAME: Since you are a coward you cannot understand. SHAME: would be submitting to anyone telling you to do that. SHAME: would be getting naked and jumping on the stack instead of saying Fuck off and taking the beating. That would be SHAME. Again you cannot understand. Try testosterone. You need some.
This argument did not start with the Abu Garib prison thing. This argument started when the brave people of America chose to re-elect a brave leader. It started when cry baby little shits like you could not take your defeat like a man. Instead you choose to piss and moan, and belittle our government and our troops. The traitor you were backing was sent packing. You cannot accept that so you continue on. THE ACTIONS OF A COWARD. You are shit.
Your only option is the bridge. Be a man for the first time in your miserable insignificant life.
Why not? You haven't lived like a man. So whats the loss. On the way down maybe you will gain some self respect. A few moments is better than never experiencing it. Pitiful little nerd is what you truly are.

Oh so now the Jim's of the world are saying that they prisoners were beaten and raped beyond recognition? I didn't see anything in those photos. Easier to make it worse than it is, than to admit they weren't treated that badly?
Why the fuck are the Jim's of the world so quick to DEFEND THE FUCKING ENEMY????????? Why not show a little rage against the bastards that slowly sawed off heads of innocent victims not even remotely involved in the war? What about poor Margaret Hassan who was helping THEIR PEOPLE and they killed her anyway???

Israel to Release 900 Palestinian Prisoners, Withdraw from West Bank Towns
As part of a cease-fire deal in preparation for the upcomig summit between Prime Minister Arial Sharon and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Israel promised to Release 900 Palestinian Prisoners and withdraw from Jericho and five other West Bank towns.
Exactly how releasing 900 suspected terrorists and their sympathizers could possibly help a cease-fire was not explained by either the PA or the Israeli cabinet which approved the deal.

I think this is a critical step towards peace in that region and throughout the middle east. I also think that Bush's proposal of funds to help this process is amazing. The majority of those "suspected terrorists" are probably teenagers who threw rocks at tanks and were lucky to survive shots from supposedly non-lethal rubber bullets if not worse. Of course there is no way to know for sure but I only make this speculation because you do as well.
I ask you all this question: how long can muslim rulers turn a blind eye to terrorists when they see the US making strides to help the palestenians? Would terrorist sympathizers continue their support when they see the US helping muslims?
Lets get to the point...the SMALL groups of muslims that the MSM loved to show dancing in the streets after 9/11...would they be as happy if the people that were killed were helping them build a house on the soil that was finally returned to them? I think not. Suddenly the few muslims that see terrorists as "freedom fighters" would realize what they truly are: monsters.
This is a huge step in the right direction to heal muslim-US relations.

It's 2005 and about damn time parts of the world began to make a turn for the better. The Middle East is one such part of the world. I'm glad we have a president who has a consistent, on-going commitment to helping the Israeli/Palestinian conflict become history. The signs are good. I believe the Muslim world is reluctant to admit that the U.S has good intentions, but our priority should continue to be encouragement and support for changes; our image to the world will better accordingly.

Rooster, as usual you don't make sense. What bandwagon are you talking about? Admit that you think it was a mistake on Bush's part before you read that comment. You probably still do. Like Rusty said, we shall see. Its about time Bush finally DID something about that issue (and backed it up financially) instead of simply talking about "what an unfortunate situation" it is. If he had did it in the first 4 years there might have been no 9/11.

More Hoaxes: Experts Doubt Authenticity of British Plane Downing Video
This is an archive page. For the latest news about communiques and videos coming from terrorists in Iraq, please go to the MAIN PAGE HERE.
--------------------
First, the Jawa report debunked Ansar al-Islam's claim to have downed a British plane yesterday. Then, we help the blogosphere debunk the claim that the Mujahideen Squadrons captured a US soldier in Iraq today. (Incidentally, both claims were made on the same Islamist bulletin board, meaning whoever is behind the claims speaks Arabic.) Today, there is word that the video released by the 1920 Revolution's Brigade and shown on al Jazeera, of the British C-130 being shot down is also a hoax.
AFP in Turkish Press:
Francis Tusa, editor of Defence Analysis, said the footage contained numerous discrepancies, noting that it was taped in broad daylight while the crash took place early evening.
There was also no direct image of the supposed attack, simply three different clips edited together. One showed a finger pressing a button to launch a rocket, followed by a fireball and finally the wreckage of what was alleged to be the British plane.
"At the moment there is no evidence they have shown that shows that is the RAF aircraft," Tusa told AFP.
If the militants had really put all the camera gear in place, you would have expected to see more of the action, he said.
"The other thing is that it took them over a day to get that video out, which we think was because they were taking time to try to edit footage to make it look right."
The wreckage of an engine shown in the film could have come from a Hercules but "it also bears some similarity to a large helicopter engine," said Tusa, referring to a Sea Stallion such as the one that crashed in Iraq last month, killing all 31 US marines aboard.

Rusty,
I saw the footage of the video. While the engine might or might not be on a helicopter, the escape ladder that I saw amongst the footage probably is not. The ladder usually is not up and in place unless the web seating is up, but it is still somewhere stored on the plane. Maybe the first part of the videos, the pushing of the button, missile firing and the explosion itself might have been doctored or staged, the wreckage looks frighteningly like the wreckage of a Herk.

Maybe the video was a hoax, but the actual crash of the British copter with 10 Brits and one sailor did happen. And we had one of our own that went down the day before losing every one on board.
I also heard that another went down but no bodies were found; very strange.

Ansar al Islam Claims British Plane Shot Down
UPDATE: This is an archive page. If you are looking for more recent news about terrorist communiques or videos, please go to our MAIN PAGE HERE. Updated daily.
UPDATE: I knew it! 1920 Revolution Brigade claims downing of British Plane on Video. This is the same group responsible for the kidnapping of American Dean Sadek. (ht: Michelle Malkin)
10 are believed dead in the crash. Via Jeff Quinton this Times article:
The Ansar al-Islam group said in a statement on an Islamic website that its fighters tracked the Hercules aircraft, "which was flying at a low altitude, and fired an anti-tank missile at it".
The statement said: "Thanks be to God, the plane was downed and a huge fire and black clouds of smoke were seen rising from the location of the crash."
Established after the 9/11 attacks, Ansar al-Islam is one of IraqÂ’s older extremist groups and has been linked to al-Qaida.
On the face of it, I do not believe the report. Why?
First, Ansar al Islam has not been active in over a year. Unless the report is wrong and they mean Ansar al Sunna, which happens from time to time. The fighting remnants of Ansar al Islam seemed to have joined Ansar al Sunna. The only Ansar al Islam related activities in the past year have been fundraising and planning by a cell in Germany.
Second, wrong area. Ansar al Islam's base of operation was in Kurdistan. Ansar al Sunna has been operating in areas that were formerly Kurdish but which were 'Arabized' under the Saddam Hussein regime. The plane was apparantly shot down only 20 miles north-west of Baghdad which is in the Sunni triange but nowhere near al Sunna's normal base of operations.
Unless of course the terrorists were referring to this....

Two readings on this:
1. The Lockheed C-130 can be equiped with CM technology (Chafe, Flares), and most of the times is for heat, and radar guided ground-to-air munitions. The lack of any countermeasures "signatures" on the video recording could be:
A. The weapon was not a autonomous ground-to-air weapon, but an non-autonomous weapon used in an un-orthodox fashion (anti-personal, or anti-tank wepaon).
B. Lack of countermeasures onboard
C. Crew / CM system failure to acknowledge launch of an autonomous munitions.
2. Footage shot of mutitions being expended, then footage of crashed aircraft being added on to get required PR. If a munition of that size would hit a C-130 in mid-flight there would be smoke and fire in the air as well as noticable debres falling ... even if it was a 1-1,000,000 chance hit on a fuel cell.

As a former C-130 pilot, I would say the options A + C above would be the root causes as to why the plane was shot down. If it was an optically guided anti-tank missile, then reactive flares would be ineffective. But such an anti-tank missile would have a short range only useful against low-flying aircraft, which unfortunately the Brits were this day. If the crew didn't see the launch, then any reactive maneuvering wouldn't have been performed, thus the absence of any flares.
The damage an anti-tank missile would do to the C-130 would be devastating, probably many times more than the standard MANPAD. Remember, an anti-tank missile is normally used against heavily armored vehicles, which the C-130 is not. Hitting a fuel cell isn't the only way to take the Herc out, a lucky strike at the wing root could structurally weaken the airframe and take off the wing or a lucky shot into the cockpit, and that is all she wrote. Either way, these terrorist bastards got lucky.

Religion of Peace Uses Child With Down's Syndrome as Suicide Bomber

WaPo report:
"A handicapped child was used to carry out a suicide attack on a polling site," al-Naqib said. "This is an indication of what horrific actions they are carrying out."
He gave no other details about the attack, but police at the scene of one the Baghdad blasts said the bomber appeared to have Down's Syndrome.

This is the true face of terrorism regardless of its intentions and suppossed reason for fighting. Use of those they can do their dirty work. I think the gruesome twist would be that one of the relatives with some radical views and confidence of the kid was contacted to "help" the cause.
These groups are the confidence men of the supreme kind: "Die for our cause, and you will be the hero of the people that never loved or cared for you". People ask why seemingly intelligent college grads do the work of terrorists: they are malliable and still naive, best example Italian and Japanese Red Brigade members who killed and carried out terrorist attacks for the palestinian's in the 60's, and 70's. White supremecy groups using the teens as their foot soldiers in poor and middle class working towns: young, educated enough to be dangarous, and naive. Also the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo metro system, highly educated people manipulated to carry out the dirty work of some suave crackpot.
Those insugents shown being carted off by their arms by the Iraqi forces should be looking forward to their treatment for extracting who their cohorts and handlers were ... one thing I must say is that middle eastern police forces have some very effective and harsh ways of helping you un-cloud that rusty memory ... and thats before they have even touched you yet.

Yea man, like black muslims groups who teach young black people to hate whites. Terrorize neighborhoods and teach that other races are the devil. Groups like the black panthers, that invited young black kids to join in their hate campaigns. Black gangs like the bloods and crips who convince young black kids to kill and deal drugs. All in the name of racial justice. What a pity it is for these lame brains to influence young people to act out their hatred. Malcome X, Louis Farakhan, for years these hate mongers by deceit and trickery have recruited impressional young men to do their bidding. Just the way it is I guess.

Actually, the young man with Down syndrome was a Shiite who the family believes was taken by the bombers while they were voting. He was 19 years old and routinely wandered the neighborhood by himself safely, although he had the cognitive level of a 4-year-old. On election day, he apparently ran into the wrong people who used him. The bomb blew up when he was in the clear, and nobody died but him. The family heard the blast shortly after voting, and when they heard a "mongoli" was the bomber, they ran to the scene and found their son's head. According to stories I read, the family is broken up over the death of their son. No relative was involved in his death.

Kuwaitis Kill 4 Terrorists, Capture 'Spiritual Leader'
The 'spiritual leader' of an al Qaeda linked jihadi group in Kuwait, Amer Khlaif al-Enezi, was captured in a 9 hour running gunbattle between the terror suspects and Kuwaiti security forces. Four suspected terrorists were killed in the battle. One of those killed was a Saudi national. The former imam's brother was taken into custody yesterday.
One civilian was also killed in the clashes.
Thousands of rounds were said to have been exchanged in the shootout.
This is the fourth clash in the past month between suspected terrorists and Kuwaiti security forces this month. Many of the suspected terrorists are believed to have been in transit from other Arab states to Iraq. Hundreds of foreign terrorists have been reported fighting the U.S. in Iraq.

They rank as equally evil to me. We have to exterminate them all. But how? The libs keep crying, "we can't kill innocent civilians". Didn't most of them flee their countries when they knew there would be attacks?
Can't they make a general announcement of some sort, to evacuate the areas? Surely there are safe places for them to go, let other countries worry about them!
Then, we can snuff out Zarqawi, Osama, etc.

Zarqawi, Bin laden or both. Doesn't matter. Islam will produce more just like them. Islam must be held responsible for what it produces. Then it will stop. Modern, civilized societies must make the Muslim world understand this behavior will not tolerated. The governments, families, cities, parties, mosques or whatever that produces these killers must be held responsible. If the regions of the world producing these killers will not or cannot stop it, then it is our job to stop it. We are the victims of terror. We have a right to protect ourselves. Nations that don't believe this should be made to believe it. CAREING MORE ABOUT THEM THAN THEY CARE ABOUT US IS STUPID and will only prolong the inevitable. Better a few missles now than the big one later.
When we bombed Germany and Japan into submission did anyone realize that there were good anti war people in those countries? So don't give me that good muslim shit. Good muslims correct bad muslims. 25 million Iraqis could control a few thousand terrorists if they really wanted to. Nations/peoples are responsible for what comes from them. The good people of Germany and Japan died along with the bad because they didn't control the bad. It was their responsibility. They didn't take care of their business so we did. We should not be fighting their civil war for them. Americans should not be dying for Iraq. Iraqis should be. To many of us have already died for ours. Know something else. The bastards still dance in the streets whenever an American is butchered. The Shites are not voteing because they care for America. They are voteing to take control so the Sunnis don't. Then it will be back to hating America. They will tell us to get out. Then the Clerics will move in. Then Iraq, Iran and others will sit down and discuss how truly terrible the infidel America is.

The World War II analogy is not appropriate. The Japanese people surrendered because their God-Emperor Hirohito surrendered, while the Islamic world has no single leader (the Caliphate was abolished by Kemal Ataturk in 1924).
As for Germany, the Americans arrived there not so much as conquerors, as saviors from Communism. Better become friends of the Americans and British than be abandoned to the murder, rape and pillage of a vicious, vengeful Red Army.

Highlights:
The Army of Muhammad was founded by Saddam Hussein after the fall of the regime
We got aid primarily from Iran. The truth is that Iran has played a significant role in supporting the Army of Muhammad and many factions of the resistance. I have some units, especially in southern Iraq, which receive Iranian aid in the form of arms and equipment."

The Syria connection is hardly a surprise - Hussein's regime was a Baathist, so it's not a huge shock to see Baathist governments helping each other.
As for Iran, interesting if true. Iran is Shiite Muslim, while Iraq was Sunni during Hussein's reign. Wouldn't the Army of Mohammed be Sunni as a result? And why would Iran help if that was the case?

http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2005/01/iraqs-defense-minister-shows-proof.html
From ARAB NEWS in SAUDI ARABIA ("REUTERS"):
Iraqi Minister Says Iran, Syria Back Insurgents
BAGHDAD, 8 January - Iraq’s interim defense minister said yesterday he had proof that Syria and Iran were backing the insurgency raging in Iraq with money and arms. In the latest accusation against Iraq’s neighbors, Hazim Al-Shaalan showed journalists a video of a man he said was the captured leader of an insurgent group called Mohammed’s Army, confessing to receiving aide from Iran and Syria, and threatened revenge. “We, especially in Mohammed’s Army, received a lot of help from Iran, which also supports most of the resistance groups in Iraq,” said the man, who identified himself as Col. Moayed Yassin Aziz Al-Nasiri, from Saddam Hussein’s disbanded army. The video’s authenticity could not be verified. Iran and Syria deny links with Iraq’s insurgents.
It's ultimatum time... or maybe we have to wait until Iraq elects their government - AND THEN THEY ISSUE AN ULTIMATUM OF THEIR OWN: "Stop aiding the counter-revolutionaries or we will counter-attack your nation!" Then, the Iraq government asks us for help - AND WHAM, we whack Iran and Syria destroying all their military assets!

Why would syria help sadaam while they had a tense relationship for a long time? Syria was against Iraq during the Iraqi war against Iran. Syria was also against Iraq during the Kuwait invasion. It doesn't make sense that Syria will support Sadaam now. On the Other hand the Ba'th in Syria is the left wing of that party which went throug a dispute with the right wing which is the Iraqi Ba'th party now. They are two different extremes.

Though what disturbs me most is my cancer sickness.
Having known my condition,I decided to donate part of my husband's wealth to either a trusthworthy,God fearing and religiously devoted individual or organization that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct thereafter.I want you to use this money in all sincerity to share it to charity homes and orphanages in your country,to fight against serving humanity which transcends ethnic, tribal and religious bounds. The holy bible and the Koran alike emphasized so much on giving of alms, charity and this common belief and bold step.I took this decision because it was an instruction from husband before he died to share this money to charity homes because we don't have any child and I don't want my husband's had earned money to be misused by people that are not trustworthy.
I don't want a situation where this money will be misused hence the reason for taking this bold decision.I know that when I ! die,I will rest in peace with the most high and the most merciful one if my wish is accomplished before I demise to the higher glory.Kindly include your telephone and fax numbers were I can call you when responding to this letter With God,I know that all things are possible and as soon as I receive your reply,I shall give you the contact of the finance and security firm and I shall instruct them to change the ownership in your name, I will also issue you a letter of authority that will prove you as the original beneficiary of the funds.I want you to always pray for me.

Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa Freed
Catholic World News:
Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa of Mosul, Iraq, was released on Tuesday morning, January 18, less than a day after being kidnapped.
Details of the archbishop's abduction and release were incomplete, as of Tuesday morning. But the Vatican was notified promptly that Archbishop Casmoussa had been freed, and papal spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls expressed "great satisfaction" with the news.
"The Pope was informed immediately, and thanked God" for the Iraqi prelate's release, Navarro-Valls added. He said that no ransom had been paid.
Earlier, Church officials in Iraq had been quoted as saying that they had received a ransom demand. Father Tetrus Mosei, the vicar general of the Mosul diocese, reportedly received a phone call on Tuesday morning demanding payment of $200,000 for the archbishop's release. Catholics in Mosul were collecting funds for the ransom payment when they heard that Archbishop Casmoussa was already free.
In Rome, Navarro-Valls said that the archbishop's abduction came as a surprise, in part because he is "very well liked by both Christians and Muslims."
Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho, who heads the Chaldean Catholic diocese of Mosul (Archbishop Casmoussa is the Syrian-rite leader), suggested that the kidnapping was probably not motivated by religious issues. He told reporters that criminals in Mosul, taking advantage of the unrest in the city, have begun kidnapping prominent people to generate quick profits from ransoms.
Good news. I still find it hard to believe that this was a simple act of extortion. Christians in the Middle East routinely play down religious tensions fearing further persecution. Further, Christians have been in dhimmi subjegation for so long that they become some of the best apologists for their own oppression. Uncle Toms if you will.
I may be going out on a limb here, but it remains a distinct possibility that whoever took Casmoussa might not have realized what kind of press this would receive--even in the Arab world. After all, the Catholic church opposed the war making itself the darling of terrorist media such as al Jazeera. An ignoble ally for such a great institution.
Having said that it does remain a distinct possibility that simple extortion was the only motive. Wherever we go human greed seems to remain the same. However, in my own experience I find that one is rarely motivated by a single factor. It is then also possible that extortion and religion played motivating factors.

If this was religiously-motivated, I'd say it would be highly unlikely that he would be released, especially after 1 day. If you're fighting a jihad, I doubt you'd give up a prize like an archbishop because of "press."
Whoever did it was probably looking for a ransom, and probably realized that Casmoussa would generate more heat than they needed.

Archbishop Kidnapped in Iraq (UPDATED)

Mosul is a base of operation for The Army of Ansar al Sunnah, and I suspect that this is their handiwork. Right: Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa at the
UCIP World Congress 2004.
Critical update 1/18/05: Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa freed! No ransom paid. Details at this post.
Reuters:
The Catholic archbishop of the Iraqi city of Mosul was kidnapped Monday in what the Vatican called an "act of terrorism."
Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls told Reuters the Holy See had received news of the kidnapping of Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa in Mosul. The spokesman demanded his immediate release but gave no details of the abduction.
BBC News:
A Catholic archbishop in the northern Iraq city of Mosul has been kidnapped by insurgents, the Vatican says. Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa, 66, was abducted from outside his church in the east of the city.
The Vatican said in a statement that it deplored "in the firmest way such a terrorist act", and asked that the archbishop be freed immediately.
There have been a number of attacks on Iraq's Christian minority. Two churches were bombed in Mosul in December.
Developing.....
More on Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa,a Syrian by birth, he was Archbishop of the Catholic Syrian Church--which is affilated with the Roman Catholic Church.
Recently quoted as saying, "The terrorist groups that carry out the attacks “hope that many, many more Christians will go. Their strategy is to create fear among the Christians and push them out of Iraq,”
UPDATE I: No claims of responsibility aired yet on al Jazeera, but only this story:
Casmusa, 66, leader of the city's Syrian Catholic community, was seized at around 5pm local time (1400 GMT) as he was about to enter his car, Father Faraj told AFP.
The armed men tossed him into the trunk of their vehicle before speeding away, according to the priest, who follows the rival Chaldean rite.
The Chaldean patriarch in Baghdad, Emmanuel Delly, said Casmusa "was abducted outside his home as he was returning from a pastoral visit in the diocese of Mosul".
"He was abducted and taken off in a car. We don't know who took him, nor the reason why," Delly told the missionary news agency Misna by telephone.
UPDATE II: There has been some discussion at other blogs as to the possible motivation for kidnapping the Archbishop, some speculating that this could be a simple act of extortion for money.
However, one need look no farther than a recent communique from Abu Musab al Zarqawi to see why Christians in general have a great deal to fear in the Middle East. Al Qaeda in Iraq justified the recent murder of Amer Nayef saying he was "the deputy police chief of the Jews and Christians" and that Nayef's son was murdered because he "serves the pagan guard."
The terrorists really believe that the liberation of Iraq was a reenactment of the Crusades. Iraq is just another chapter in the Crusades and who better to symbolize Christianity's victory than Archbishop Casmoussa?
The deep paranoia of Muslims in the Middle East plays out in such a way that all Christians should now consider themselves targets. Jews who once lived in Arab countries can tell you what I am talking about. All Jews in Muslim lands are considered potential spies for the "Zionist entity."
I suspect the same suspicions and paranoia will now scapegoat Christians as responsible for the ills of Iraqi society and as possible collaborators with the "Crusader forces."

This is crazy! Why on earth would they want a person of the cloth, of all people? They are usually the ones who oppose war. This is getting too close to home for me.
I say my original plan still would be the most effective way to get out of this. And most of know what that plan is.

I am sick over this story, but this isn't anything new, just the next chapter in a long story. (Hello, Sudan?) Muslims have routinely kidnapped thousands of Christians and held them for ransom or just kept them as slaves. (If you've ever heard of churches with names like "Our Lady of Ransom" that's why.) Many saints, most notably St. Vincent de Paul, offered himself (twice!) as a substitute for some poor bastard kidnapped by the Moors. (St. Anthony of Padua wanted to go the the Middle East and get himself martyred, but God had other plans.)
I hope His Eminence is all right.
Catholic Relief Services is sending millions of dollars and hundreds of volunteers to help Muslims in Indonesia. So much for winning the RoP over by our good works. Think any of their co-religionists eating, drinking and healing courtesy of the Catholic Church will speak out to condemn this?
(Sound of crickets).

I sent money to CRS in December shortly after the disaster.
Of course I can't fault the poor people involved in this disaster.
Islam,Budist, whatever,I had some ability to help the people.
Just hard to stomach this latest kidnaping. Sub humans involved here.
Hard to imagine coming to a political solution with this bunch. I really think there has to be a winner in this struggle or we will fight each other until the end.

Not so long ago, Christian churches had been bombed. (actually twice ) A young girl from Mosul, living in Baghdad now has her own blog, I believe called "A star in Mosul." When the first bombing of the Christian churches, she first apologized to the Christians in her country and then Christians around the world. She went on to say a member of her family was getting married and all the Christians in the neighborhood came out and surrounded the mosque so the wedding could go on without a hitch. The Christians came and protected the mosque so the wedding could happen. Then she said "See, we can all get along if we try."
I haven't got a clue as to why they would abduct a well-known archbishop but there will be hell to pay if he's killed.

Shouldn't we consider all muslims to be potential spies for Islamic terrorists groups. If we did not have muslims in America would America be safer? I think so. I think this horrible religion should be outlawed. Wish to be muslim? Go live in a muslim land. If this shit continues muslims in America and other countries won't be safe anyway. Just a matter of time. When the ball starts rolling it won't stop. Sooner or later retaliation will start. Unfair? yes. But it will happen.

Firstbrokenangel, you could get yourself a clue, but this of course depends on what side of your brain you use. Logical thinking involves two problem-solving styles which individually reflect the way the brain's adjacent hemispheres work: the left side concentrates on detail and analysis, the right side specializes in lateral and creative thinking. Both hemispheres are linked, but one side usually dominates an individual's way of thinking at any given time. If you have a tendency toward left-brain activity, you would solve problems by relying on information and facts before reaching a decision. Your major drawbacks are a resistance to new ideas and the potential suppression of creativity by evaluating ideas before they are fully formed.
If you have a tendency toward right-brained activity and solve problems creatively and flexibly to come up with lots of solutions. Your main disadvantage is getting bored with detail and wanting to rush on to the next challenge without having resolved previous issues.
You could, of course, have centered-brain activity, with both sides working in equilibrium. This mental elasticity enables you to comfortably apply either an analytical or a creative approach. You may, however, not be either systematic or imaginative enough, which could undermine your depth of understanding or limit your ability to switch between left-and right-brained decisions. What part do you use? I can provide boosting tips, if you wish. I hope I've helped you to get "a clue".

Greyrooster, is your comment aimed at me? If you want I can give you a FREE psychological profile. A lot of work needs to go into you, however, there is hope. I would consider you are a right-brainer, the right hemisphere is associated with spatial construction, non-verbal creativity, and visual processing, but has no specialist regions. But if you were to be a left-brainer, then this hemisphere is associated with linguistic function, speech production, the ability to write and understand written words, and plays a crucial role in mathematical calculation and logical deduction.

Can you imagine this? There were people on the side of the road with grenades at and into the bus. The 15 they took hostage were ones who were not hurt and ambulatory. And you're right about that fate. I had heard earlier that most of the guys who were training for the guard, police, military couldn't even tell their families what they were doing out of fear that their families would be killed. This invisible enemy should be glowing so we and they can tell the difference between citizens and terrorists.

Now they're saying the bus was hit with an RPG. It'll probably be awhile before we know everything. I mean, how could they possibly have gone with these terrorists willingly without fighting them off with their newly trained skills?

True, especially since they know what will happen once they are captured. That's just like these defense classes. They tell you if at all possible, fight off your attacker and do NOT get into the vehicle...once you are inside, it is highly likely you will never come out of that car alive. So fight with the last ounce of your strength.

Anyone who can't see that the Palestinian militants are DEFYING Abbas and not carrying out his orders is just dumb. Abbas is not Arafat - just look at his record (he's the only Palestinian I know of who successfully negotiated a temporary ceasefire from Hamas during the 2nd intifadah).
***
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has cut all contact with Mahmoud Abbas until the newly elected Palestinian leader reins in the militants

Oh, come on Rusty!!! If anybody is out to kill people, it's ARIEL SHARON. Don't be blind here now. The problem is Ariel Sharon; he does not want peace with the Palestinian people. What he wants is to wipe every Palestinian on this earth. Abbas got a call from Sharon because he was pressured to make that call but he never had and never will have any intention for peace between Israel and Palestine.
You say how many Israeli's were killed - why don't we keep track of how many Palestinians get killed every day by Ariel Sharon????
It's one thing to get rid of Hamas and Hezbollah, but ABBAS has no control over them. Even after he was elected, they said that they were not going to follow the orders of Abbas. This is a GOOD man. Ariel Sharon is NOT a good man and never has been.

The World Court Ordered Sharon to take down that wall and he has refused an has actually continued making that wall. He is losing support from his neighbors, the European Union, the UN although they aren't any help to anyone and hopefully will be disbanded for all the good they do. Even the US is trying to deal with Sharon but he just continues to do what he wants, even when his own people protest against him - so no,that man should be taken out.

Grey Rooster, we all agree that the UN is nothing but bullshit.Even Bush tried to get that message across when he gave out AmericanCorps as a place to send direct donations and now there's a commericial with his father and Clinton on it - their mission is to raise a long term collection of funds for rebuilding in South Asia. Someone also has to make new maps; things are no longer the way it used to be. We also need it here in our own country. How much does Kerry have left after his Presidential run? What is he going to do with it? Why not donate it all? Nah, that would be too good of him and he does not have that in him.
Someday someone will take a bulldozer to the UN building and push it into the nearest river in NYC and send home all those Secretaries and Prime ministers who live here for free, never pay taxes, as well as never getting anything done. This was another long discussion we had here on this site and you'll find it in the archives where are the good stuff is.

Let's say we give the Palestanians everything they wan't. Isreal is now more of a rump state than it is now. Now wall, same problems. We have just extended the refugee camp to what was formally productive land.
Same problems, new demands,no willingness by the Palestinan legal authority to round up,arrest, prevent the terrorist.
Your looking for a solution that does not exist. My advice...start going to church and understand that this is all coming to an end.

Sistani Aide Shot in Iraq
AP via
Globe and Mail:
Gunmen killed a representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq's most senior Shiite Muslim cleric, along with the aide's son and four bodyguards in a town south of Baghdad, an official in the cleric's office said Thursday...
Sheik Mahmoud Finjan, Mr. al-Sistani's representative in the town of Salman Pak, 20 kilometres southeast of Baghdad, was shot dead Wednesday night as he was returning home from a mosque where he performed the evening prayers, the official said on condition of anonymity. His son and four bodyguards were also killed, the official at Mr. al-Sistani's office in this Shiite holy city said.
Given the location of the assasination, my money is on the Islamic Army in Iraq.

Free room and board, comradeship, excitement. Parents will be proud of you. Your picture on the mantel. Religious leaders pat you on the back, claim you are a martyr. Your 15 minutes of fame and 72 virgins all rolled into one. Western educated muslims to show you how to make bombs. Neighboring countries supply you with weapons. Western charities supply you with money.
No baseball, no football, no basketball, no alcohol, no dancing, no Disney World. Why lead a boring existence? Become a terrorist and see the world. If you lose in Afghanistan go to Iraq. If you lose in Iraq go to ??????? Learn human anatomy, behead innocent people. Kill westerners who you have been jealous of all your life. Kill rival religious leaders. Settle old scores. Fun, fun, fun. Terrorism is becoming a way of life for unemployable muslims. Beats working for a living.

Mosul Bombing
Speaking of Ansar al-Sunnah, this is surely their work.....
Turkish Press:
Twin car bombs killed at least two Iraqi soldiers in Mosul...
In the troubled city of Mosul, a white van tried to swerve inside a joint convoy of US and Iraqi military vehicles, but exploded prematurely, killing an unknown number of civilians, US army Sergeant Chris Schaeffer told AFP.
A second car parked on a street, not far away from the first blast, exploded and killed two Iraqi soldiers, Schaeffer said.

This reminds me of the double bombings held here in our own county. A bomb goes off, everyone gets there to help and then another goes off to cause more deaths and injuries for maximum loss. Eric Rudolph (is that his name?) who was finally caught a few months ago by accident, used to do that at abortion clinics. How can you protect yourself under those circumstances? You can't and the more they do of this, the worse it's going to get for everyone. Not only do they need to secure the scene but they're going to have to secure a wider space and hopefully notice the second vehicle before it explodes.

Six al Qaeda Operatives Arrested over Baghdad Governor Assasination
I wasn't around when the governor was killed, but

Chad at In the Bullpen this
Reuters story:
U.S. troops have arrested six suspects in the assassination of Baghdad's provincial governor, the highest-ranking official hit so far in attacks to sabotage Iraq's Jan. 30 election, the military said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip from residents, soldiers seized the suspected insurgents on Tuesday in a house in western Baghdad, U.S. officials said....
"We were able to act on this intelligence and detain these guys without firing a shot," said Major Web Wright, an army spokesman. The military said the men were being held for questioning.
Good news. These guys were agents of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaedi in Iraq.

Ansar al-Islam/Ansar al-Sunnah
The Commissar, who I hear has gone into semi-retirement,
republishes this
SPI article on Ansar al-Islam.
Because large portions of this site have been devoted to exposing the Ansar al Sunnah, I thought I'd republish it also below. I would correct the SPI article only in stating that Ansar al-Islam is now defunct. Ansar al-Islam bases of operation were heavily bombed during the Iraq invasion and Kurdish forces have completely suppressed the groups activities in the area. All terrorist activity in Northern Iraq has been by Ansar al-Sunnah, an offshoot and now replacement of Ansar al-Islam. Further, it was the Army of Ansar al-Sunnah themselves that have claimed allegiance to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq group. The article makes it sound as if there is some question about the relationship. There is none.

It seems some credibility has to be given to the US govs claim that the insurgency is highly fragmented...

Just posted this here cus your report says there is no doubt that Zarqawi & Sunnah are allied... I don't think that's the case. It may be true that Sunnah pledged allegiance a while ago, but a lot has changed. Sunnah may not want to be associated with a panIslamic terror group - they'd prob rather be perceived as the one true legitimate nationalist army (i.e. more selective in its aims & targets).
Best case scenario... Ansar al Sunnah & Al Qaeda in Iraq declare war on each other; go battle in the dessert; all the Iraqi civilians & coalition soldiers are left alone.

Martin,
On two beheading videos released by Ansar al-Sunnah one of the executioners identifies himself as a member of Tawhid and Jihad, the old name for Zarqawi's group. Further, after Zarqawi was forced out of Fallujah he went where? Mosul, the stomping grounds of Ansar. Ansar is not a 'nationalistic movement' in any sense of the word. They are an Islamist movement every bit as much as al Qaeda in Iraq. They make no bones about that.

Tribute to American Hostage Roy Hallums

UPDATE 9/07/05: Roy Hallums is FREE!!!!
Information and updates here.
-------
UPDATE 1/25/05: Terrorists Release Video of Roy Hallums, click here for update.
A page dedicated to American hostage Roy Hallums by his daughter Carrie. Right: Roy Hallums pictured with Carrie as a child
As close followers of this site know, a minor controversy was started when we published the name of an American civillian being held hostage in Iraq. His name first appeared as 'Roy Hallun' in a Fillipino newspaper and we republished that account here. In response to that initial post a friend of Roy contacted us and clarified that Roy's last name was actually 'Hallums'.
We published several posts about Roy Hallums, shocked that not a single mainstream media outlet had picked up on the story. Roy had been kidnapped with six other foreigners on November 1st. For weeks the State Department would only confirm that an American had been kidnapped but would not release his name. This seemed odd to us and we felt that the word should get out.
Members of Roy's family soon contacted us with words of encouragement. They too were perplexed that an American citizen could be held hostage in Iraq and yet no media would cover the story.
However, as some of you know, we took down several posts dedicated to Roy Hallums. A person close to Roy Hallums' contacted me with the concern that publicizing his account might jeopardize ongoing negotiations for his release. I was conflicted. On the one hand I felt a great deal of sympathy for this person. If I were in their shoes I would do everything possible, including paying a ransom to terrorists, for the release of my loved one. On the other hand, I wanted the whole world to know the depths of Islamofascist perfidy. As a matter of fact, my entire site is dedicated to that very goal.
In the end, the personal nature of the request won me over and I removed the posts as requested.
In the past few weeks, Roy's immediate family has been trying to get the word out about his plight and it seems the media is catching on. Just prior to my vacation I was contacted by a producer at CBS news who was trying to reach the Hallums family--I assume they ran the story although I've been out of the loop. Carrie and her mother Susan Hallums have also appeared on Good Morning America trying to get the word out about their loved one.
Carrie e-mailed me over my holiday letting me know that she had set up a web page dedicated to her father. If you have a minute I'd encourage you to go over there and look around. You can leave words of encouragement at this guest page. Also, please include Roy Hallums and his family in your prayers.

Now, my man Rusty is back!!!
May God Bless and Protect the family of Roy Hallums, Roy himself and of all the people who have been kidnapped, held hostage, or already dead, that we know nothing about for it happens everyday and we rarely hear about it.
I have not seen anything yet on the news about this, Rusty, but glad you posted it again. There are more and probably will never hear about it unfortunately.
All my hopes and prayers go to all families and to all people who have been put in this position whether we know about it or not; the way things are going, it's possible all we can do for all these people is send them our sympathies. For those who may read this blog and have a family member missing, you can even write me with the name and date and I'm sure Rusty will add your loved one's name. There is so much we do not know and may never know. This is one name of many not listed - American or otherwise.

The question of why non-combatants continue to be in Iraq remains?

Dan Rather, CBS. Ficitious reports on Bush's military records.
Question:
If incorrect/lies reports were given to Dan Rather concerning Kerry would CBS have jumped on it with the same enthusiasm?
Would Rather continued to support lies even after they were exposed as not true?
Were reports given with election results in mind?
CBS employees getting fired to save face. Is that enough after obviously reporting lies not substantiated? Should CBS be fined?
HEY RUSTY: Time to give the Kerry supporting liberal cry babies some pay back.
GET ON IT.

Grey Rooster, you wanted to know why non-combatants are still going to Iraq - MONEY. Anyone working there is making at least $80 to $100 an hour and more for the highly skilled.

Rusty,
Just a quuestion: if they were concerned before about your blog following Mr. Hallum, why are they not concerned about it anymore (including setting up their own page)? Has something changed?
Yeah, I know, that was 2 questions...

Venom,
The concern was from one person close to Roy who I'll let remain anonymous. After the MSM picked up the story and Carrie put up her own website, I felt like the cat was out of the bag. There is no reason now to restrain myself.

Wait, his own daughter didn't know he was living in Iraq, and she can't remember that "country near-by" where he lived just before then? Me smells hoax. I give this another 48 hours before it's snopes material.

Hello,
This is your wakeup call.....
Iraq, THE ENTIRE COUNTRY is a WAR ZONE!!!!
If you go there for any reason you are subjecting yourself to whatever those who don't want you there choose to do to you.
PLEASE do your loved ones a favor and consider LONG AND HARD the choice you are making.
Then, if you've made the choice to go there PLEASE tell your loved ones to LIVE WITH IT!!!!

Why can't President Bush help Roy Hallums? This is really frusterating to sit and watch all of these hostage videos and the government just says its classified information. Until when? Why cant the family know what is going on. They say that America is united, well if we are, then lets go save our fellow Americans from the terror that we will never be able to fathom. To Roy's family: my thoughts and prayers are with you. I will be checking back. Stay strong, love and peace
